Community

Vermillion County offers low taxes and affordable housing options.  The cost of living is less than neighboring metropolitan areas which can accommodate comfortable and diverse lifestyles.

With the region’s access to two interstate highways, a variety of dining, shopping and entertainment options are within an hour away in cities like Indianapolis, Terre Haute, and Lafayette, Indiana and Champaign, Illinois.

Vermillion County exemplifies typical Midwestern values. With a strong 4-H program and many of its young people active in FFA, the sense of community runs deep here. Residents rally around youth activities, and the community is strengthened by the presence the many churches with active and vibrant congregations.

Vermillion and its surrounding counties are proximate to several scenic state and county parks. Turkey Run and Shades State Parks offer unparalleled hiking through deep stone valleys carved by outwash of receding glaciers. In addition to camping at either park, you can also canoe, kayak or float the Sugar Creek as it gently winds its way through both. For those who like to fish the big rivers, the mighty Wabash River is never far away.

The area also offers a variety of festivals that attract people from all around, including the Little Italy Festival in Clinton, Indiana, the Newport Auto Antique Hill Climb, which is the second largest auto event in Indiana, and the Parke County Covered Bridge Festival.

The region also offers outstanding healthcare and emergency service.

Vermillion County is great location to call home!
